On Thursday, October 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., we will host an ‘Introduction to the Port Ludlow Voice’ in the auditorium of the Bay Club and will share details regarding how volunteers can be a part of this effort. We hope you will consider attending, learn more about what we do and how we do it, and consider joining our merry band.
Port Ludlow is an amazing community. One aspect of our ‘Village in the Woods by the Bay’ that I have come to appreciate deeply is the core volunteerism that sustains so many aspects of our life here. Do you enjoy our local trails? Do you appreciate access to performing and visual arts events here in the community? Activities at the Beach Club or the Bay Club? Thank a volunteer – many volunteers – for those opportunities and so many more.
The Port Ludlow Voice is a monthly publication managed and staffed entirely by volunteers. Our goals are to enhance the experience of our readers living here and nearby by informing them of events and opportunities that might otherwise be missed; sharing stories about our local history, environment, and their fellow residents as well as providing consistent updates to the activities of the Village Council, LMC, SBCA, arts and charitable organizations and other articles that we believe will appeal to our readers.
As is true of so many volunteer-dependent organizations, we are in consistent need of new volunteers to help us sustain our publication. I would emphasize that our needs cross many skillsets and experiences. Although you might think ‘I’m not a writer’ or ‘I have no experience in publishing’ the reality is that most of us currently volunteering for the Voice arrived here with no prior experience, and our tasks involved in getting this magazine out every month include many jobs not associated with writing at all.
We hope you enjoy this issue, and as always, want to emphasize that our financial survival is almost entirely dependent upon our supportive business partners who choose to invest some portion of their advertising budget with the Voice. Please reach out to them when your needs arise and thank them for their support.
