by Gil Skinner, President, SBCA Board of Directors
The ink from the January Voice was hardly dry touting our New Member Orientation sessions when we had to postpone them due to the rapidly spreading Omicron Covid variant. The good news is that we had several South Bay members sign up before we could get the word out about the postponement. Watch for an e-blast from the SBCA to announce when they are rescheduled. We will get this done.
The experiment with Bay Club Bistro came to an end—at least for now. For many the chance to eat a nice meal at the Bay Club in a dining-room-like setting was a welcome relief after months of isolation. However, because a few logistical issues arose for both Dusty Green and the Bay Club, we have had to hit the pause button. The old adage “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” is in operation. The Board of Directors is committed to an ongoing program of improving the member experience.
Based on our member survey results the Activities Committee has a lot of ideas to explore for the coming months. The survey showed interest in Music on the Green and Summer Picnics; these are just a couple of things that they will be discussing as we move forward. These types of activities require advance planning and usually volunteers to make them successful. Please watch for the Club e-blasts as planning gets underway.
I am sorry to report that Bert Loomis resigned from the Board of Directors in December. I would be remiss if I did not laud Bert and his willingness to give his time to us, as well as applaud his work ethic. Through the years I have admired Bert’s commitment to the South Bay community and have appreciated and enjoyed his friendship. Thank you for your service, Mr. Loomis, you will be missed.
Finally, let’s all continue to work together, play nice, and stay safe and healthy.
