Is an End to the Print Version
of the Voice at Hand?

(Volunteers Needed)

Dear Readers, you would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to know that volunteers in our community are—like the rhinos—almost extinct. At least the rhinos have an excuse, they are being poached mercilessly. What has happened to the volunteers? I’m not a sociologist so I don’t really know. I’m sure it is a complex set of circumstances like most of the world’s problems. Dare I say that the feeling is “let someone else do it?”

What I do know is that the print edition of the Port Ludlow Voice is on life support.

We are losing the talents and energies of our final proofreader, copy editor, and layout staff member. We have not had a North Bay editor, South Bay editor, or PLVC editor for over a year. Our classified ad manager, display ad manager, and distribution manager have been wearing several hats for several years. Our stellar proofreading staff is down to six or seven souls who gamely say yes again and again - much more often than they should have to. If you are one of the many people who tell me, “I love the Voice! I so look forward to getting it and reading it cover to cover.” I have advice for you. Volunteer.

Please take a look at the job descriptions below and give it some thought. Send your ideas about keeping the print version of the Voice alive to editor@plvoice.org. Surely you have a few hours each month to keep a community institution alive? We want to hear from you—no, we NEED to hear from you.
