Mystery Genres Explored at Martha’s Book Group

Walt Longmire and Jimmy Perez are continents and cultures apart. Longmire is a sheriff in Absaroka County, Wyoming, and Perez is a detective inspector in the Shetland Islands. Both are featured in popular television series adapted from the novels of Craig Johnson and Ann Cleeves.

Martha’s Book Group will be discussing Johnson’s The Cold Dish and Cleeves’s Raven Black as their book selections for September. What is it about these protagonists that makes them so popular? What makes their exotic locales so appealing? These and many more discussion topics will delve into the burgeoning world of the modern mystery genre scripted to become the next big detective series in the competitive streaming field.

Martha’s Book Group will meet on Tuesday, September 13, at 4 p.m. at the Bay Club. All are welcome. For more information or a list of upcoming book selections, contact Sarah Schuch at bookclub|||plvoice|||org|||subject.
