Guidelines for Submitting an Article

The mission of the Port Ludlow Voice is to inform its readers of events and activities within the village and in close proximity to the village of Port Ludlow. We will be happy to print your special events and news items if they pertain to the village or activities that impact the village.

If you have interesting, informative, or “just plain fun-to-read” articles, send them to editor@plvoice.org. The articles we print are usually between 100 – 350 words long, not political in nature (unless we have both sides of the issue), and endeavor to be helpful to the community we serve. We do not print editorial comment.

Here are some guidelines if you would like to submit an article:

When to submit articles: between the 1st and the 8th of the month prior to the publication of the magazine.

Where to submit articles: editor@plvoice.org

File type: Word Document

Length of article: Articles: 150 to 200 words or less, unless permission has been granted by the editor for a longer article. Voice editors reserve the right to edit an article.

Font: Times New Roman, 14 point and bolded for headlines; 12 point for body text.

Photos: They should be sent as separate High Resolution JPG files (1 – 5 megabytes, at least 300 DPI); preferably in color, except for historical images that are usually black and white. Include a caption that briefly explains the photo and identifies all the people in the photo and the photographer. If you don’t want to list the photographer, we show “Submitted Photo” under the caption.

The Voice is an all-volunteer organization and using our guidelines makes it easier for our editors to process your requests.
