February. Although it may be the shortest month of the year, it is usually a busy one. It is Black History Month. February days that come immediately to mind are Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, Super Bowl Sunday, and Chinese New Year. But, there are many more special days in February, most of which are probably unknown by most.
There is a day for wearing red or to give kids a smile (February 4) and a day to thank your mailman (February 5). How about a day to send a card to a friend? (February 7.) February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. There are many websites listing all of these, and more. One of these sites, in case you are interested, is calendarr.com (that’s right, calendar spelled with 2 r’s.) We have the honor of having a team of two filling the position of Sports and Recreation Editor —MaryBeth Sabine and Lisa Taylor—welcome them! They are both active individuals with a lot of enthusiasm for this area and the outdoor opportuni- ties to be found here. And, oh, by the way, they point out that February 22 is Recreational Sports and Fitness Day.
We hope that you enjoy all of the many interesting contribu- tions this month by our talented writers.
