Come Out and Walk Port Ludlow– August 28

by Jane Holmes, Guest Writer

Everyone is invited to come out and walk in Port Ludlow on Saturday, August 28. 10K and 5K routes are being set-up by a local “volksmarching” club.

Both routes will be marked with ribbons and arrows. The 5K (3.1 mile) route traverses the beach and heads around the bay to Picnic Point, Ludlow Cove Cottages, and back. You can add on a visit to the Interpretive Trail and Ludlow Falls if desired. The 10K (6.2 mile) route starts out with the 5K route but then heads up the Osprey Trail to do a loop on shady, wooded trails in the “highlands.”

These walks show off the fabulous trail system here in Port Ludlow. It is a chance to walk as a community, walk at your own pace, and feel secure walking with others along the same route.

All walks start and end at the Bridge Deck above the Ludlow Beach Club (121 Marine View Drive). Come sign in and start your walk anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on August 28. The event will end at 4:00 p.m. It is free to walk, and you might discover nooks and crannies of our town that you’ve never seen before. Water, trail bars, and porta potties will be provided. Everyone who walks will get a free raffle ticket and a chance to win some cool prizes.

We expect volksmarchers from around Washington and even Canada to come for the event (the border situation permitting), so if you see walkers, say hello! And if you notice trail markers, please leave them in place. Volunteers will pick them up after the walk ends.

This event is co-sponsored by The Port Ludlow Village Council, Port Ludlow Associates, and the Four Plus Foolhardy Folks volksmarch club.
