Tom Stahl in Concert
A Spirited Organ & Piano Performance
October 25th, 2 PM
First Presbyterian Church
1111 Franklin St
Port Townsend, WA 98368
Join us at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Townsend on Saturday, October 25th at 2:00 p.m. for a captivating afternoon of music with organist Tom Stahl. The historic sanctuary of the church will once again be filled with the music of this accomplished musician. Stahl, who last appeared at the church in November 2023 for its 150th anniversary, will return with a brand-new program that promises a rich blend of styles — from beloved classics to unexpected favorites. The program will span centuries – from classics to Broadway and beyond – with selections touching on Baroque brilliance, Romantic piano works, early jazz, ragtime, Broadway, and film scores, all highlighting the rich sound of the church’s historic pipe organ.
Come to enjoy the 1889 Whalley & Genung tracker pipe organ, a one-of-a-kind instrument with nearly 700 pipes ranging from two inches to sixteen feet in length. Its rich, resonant sound takes on everything from sacred chorales to rousing fanfares.
Stahl, who began organ study at the age of five, is known for his engaging commentary between pieces. “It’s a different kind of musical journey this time,” Stahl notes, “and one that shows just how versatile the organ can be.”
The concert will also be live streamed. Admission is free, though donations will be welcomed to support the organ and piano maintenance fund.
